MyPal Online School

Sugata Mitra and wish for school in cloud

12 September 2013 By In MyPal Blog

Sugata Mitra won the TED 2013 prize of US$ 1 million to fulfill his wish to build a School in the Cloud, a learning lab in India, where children can embark on intellectual adventures by engaging and connecting with information and mentoring online.

Sugata Mitra who was previously with NIIT, was famous for his Hole in the Wall experiment where he discovered that slum kids learnt how to use a computer themselves and were teaching the others how to use it.  Sugata Mitra is a visionary and is a champion of using technology for education.  Sugata Mitra is currently Prof of Educational Technology at University of Newcastle and dreams big to reach out on the cloud to teach underprivileged kids and experiment with ways of learning.  On the other hand, at MyPal Online School we have launched online courses in Math and Computer Science for talented teenagers to provide enrichment / acceleration in important subjects.  MyPal’s approach is way ahead of times judging by the fact that the education systems, students and parents are stuck in the routine school work, home work, tuition and test prep / entrance exams. Hopefully there is room for real learning amidst all this.  The Trinity of Learning should exemplify the personalities of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh – Creation / Innovation (of new learning materials), Preservation (of what is good) and Destruction (of irrelevant and outdated).
